  • The investigation into the case against 15 people, including former captain of the national cricket team Shakib Al Hasan, on charges of embezzlement and trafficking around Rs 257 crore through manipulation in the stock market is in the final stages.
The charge sheet will be submitted to the court once the new commission approves the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

ACC deputy director and public relations officer Aktarul Islam said the investigation into the case against Shakib Al Hasan and Abul Khair Hiru is almost over. The charge sheet will be submitted to the court soon after the approval of the new commission.

Earlier, the date of filing the investigation report was scheduled for July 27th, but it was not possible to submit it. Later, Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Shahjahan Kabir fixed the new date of filing the report on September 30th.

According to the ACC complaint, the accused collectively manipulated the share price of the specific company and lured the investment of ordinary investors by artificially raising the share price of the specified company. It has been alleged that Rs 256 crore 97 lakh ₹304 lakh has been embezzled.

According to the case, Shakib Al Hasan helped the manipulation by investing in shares in Paramount Insurance, Crystal Insurance and Sonali Papers and raised a profit of more than Rs 2 crore-95 lakh.

The ACC has already seized the relevant investigation report and necessary documents from the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC).

Besides, a separate investigation is underway against Shakib Al Hasan on charges of money laundering and acquiring wealth out of known income.
