4 more dengue deaths, 1,631 hospitalized

  • Four more people have died of dengue in the country in the last 24 hours. With this, the death toll from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease has increased to 299 in 2026. At the same time, 1,631 new dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals.
    As a result, the total number of patients admitted to hospitals with dengue this year has increased to 97,082.

    These facts were revealed from information published on the dashboard of the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services on Saturday.

    Most patients admitted in Dhaka

    According to the Health Department, the highest number of dengue patients, 406, were admitted to hospitals in the Dhaka South City Corporation area in the last 24 hours. In addition, 284 people were admitted to hospitals in Khulna division, 234 in Chittagong division, 219 in Barisal division, and 205 in areas outside the Dhaka City Corporation.

    On the other hand, 141 people in Rajshahi division, 92 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 75 in Rangpur division, 61 in Mymensingh division and 14 in Sylhet division have been admitted to the hospital due to dengue.

    Dengue incidence in previous years

    According to statistics from the Department of Health, a total of 1 lakh 2 thousand 861 people were hospitalized due to dengue in the country in 2025. 413 people died from the disease that year.

    The previous year, in 2024, 1 lakh 1 thousand 214 people were hospitalized due to dengue. That year, 575 people lost their lives to dengue.

    And in 2023, the dengue outbreak in the country was even more severe. That year, a total of 321,179 people were hospitalized with dengue and 1,705 died.

    To control the spread of dengue, it is important to destroy mosquito breeding grounds, remove stagnant water, and seek medical advice promptly if a fever occurs.
