Arif Billah Adil Chowdhury has been appointed as the Managing Director (MD) of AB Bank Plc. He took on to new position on Wednesday (August 19th).
Arif Billah Adil Chowdhury, who has more than 25 years of experience in the banking sector, is known to be an experience in leadership, strategic management, business transformation and sustainable growth in the domestic and foreign banking arena.
AB Bank from National Bank
Before joining AB Bank, he served as the Managing Director of National Bank. Under his leadership, the bank made progress in the restructuring trust of depositors and managing default loans. At the same time, the technical capacity of the bank was enhanced by modernizing the thermalos core banking system and obtaining the ISO 27001:2022 certificate for information security.
He previously joined Bank Asia as President and Managing Director in 2020. He played an important role in various reforms, including strengthening capital.
A long experience in international banking
Arif Billah Adil Chowdhury has worked in various important leadership positions outside the country for more than fifteen years. He also served as the Director of The Bank of Nova Scotia in Hong Kong and Singapore. She also has experience overseeing strategic activities in the Asia-Pacific and the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region.
At the beginning of his career in the country, he worked in Credit Agricole Indosuage and American Express Bank. Later, he also played a role in establishing the Treasury Division at the Dhaka branch of Scotia Bank.
