The Bangladesh national cricket team lost to the New Zealand national cricket team by six wickets in a thrilling run chase. The hosts went ahead by a margin of 1-0 after winning the first match of the three-match T20I series.
Bangladesh came under pressure from slow batting at the start to chase down the target of 183 runs. The match became difficult with the slow start of the openers and the quick departure of captain Liton Kumar Das. The team lost three wickets in 10.1 overs and went to the backfoot.
However, two effective pairs over the middle side of the match turned the match around. The fourth wicket returned to the stage of the run, and then the attacking batting was confirmed.
Bangladesh set a new record of winning the highest run against New Zealand in international T20Is. Earlier, Bangladesh’s highest successful run against the Kiwis was 135.
In the match, openers Saif Hasan scored 17, Tanjid Hasan Tamim 20 and Liton 21.
Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field. New Zealand scored 182 runs to bat. Openers Keten Clarke and Dan Clever both scored 51 runs to build the team on a big collection. The pair of the 88th run took the Kiwis to a strong position.
In the end, captain Nick Kelly scored 39 and Josh Clarkson added 30 runs.
Rishad Hossain was brilliant in Bangladesh’s bowling, who took two wickets. The other three bowlers also took one wicket each.
