Former interim government chief adviser Muhammad Yunus’s ‘Very Extreme Important Person’ (VVIP) status has been reduced to six months. According to the new decision, he will get this status and related security benefits until August 10th.
Several high-level sources in the government said that the VVIP status prescribed for him has been restricted in six months instead of one year in the previous year. As a result, he will no longer get the security of the Special Security Force (SSF) after August 10th.
Sources said that Muhammad Yunus was declared a “very important person” through a notification issued before leaving office. Based on that announcement, he was receiving SSF protection in accordance with the Security Rules of the President, Prime Minister or Chief Advisor and most important persons.
At present, security at his residence and workplace, search at the venue and security coordination is being ensured during the visit to the country and abroad.
After the 13th parliamentary election, the interim government’s term ended with the new government taking office. He then left the state guest house Jamuna on February 28.
However, the government has not yet released an official explanation for the reduction of the VVIP status period.
After the political change of 2024, the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus was formed on August 8, and his administrative chapter came to an end after nearly eighteen months in office.
