A new interim committee has been formed as part of the administrative reorganisation of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), led by former national team captain Tamim Iqbal.
The committee, constituted by the decision of the National Sports Council, will serve for the next three months.
According to government sources, the new structure has been formed by dissolving the existing board based on the report and recommendations of an inquiry committee. The aim of this step is to keep the administrative activities active and hold new elections within the stipulated time.
The 11-member committee includes various persons from sports and administrative backgrounds. The responsibility of the committee will include urgent policy decisions, overseeing the day-to-day activities of the board and the transfer of power to the new leadership through elections.
After assuming office, Tamim Iqbal took initiative to activate the board’s activities quickly. He attended the meeting with other members of the BBC and discussed the upcoming activities.
According to observers, the leadership of experienced players at an important time could bring new momentum to the cricket administration, although the success of this interim system will largely depend on transparency and neutrality.
