Gazipur Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Md. Nazrul Islam has taken effective and timely initiatives to reshape the institution since assuming office on December 15, 2025. Within a short period of time, his planned steps and creative thinking have accelerated the activities of the Zilla Parishad. This has already garnered praise from officials, employees and locals.
During the July 24 movement, an important structure in the Zilla Parishad premises was severely damaged by vandalism by protesters. The CEO added a new dimension to the rubble. Under his plan, the broken mural featured a map of Gazipur district on one side and a map of Bangladesh on the other. Now it is an aesthetic symbol. This not only enhanced the beauty of the premises but also sent a message of creative symbol reconstruction at the site of destruction. Local residents are applauding this exceptional initiative. Within just three months of assuming responsibility, Md. Nazrul Islam has involved all the officials in visible changes in the administrative and financial management of the Zilla Parishad.
Issuing ID cards to employees, strengthening official discipline by adding a new office register, installing maps of Gazipur district and Bangladesh in the office compound, initiatives to recover valuable land that has been lost for a long time, and effective steps to collect revenue, including collecting arrears, new buildings, restoring markets, haats, bazaars and ghats under the district council, starting the process of hiring and promoting employees, restoring discipline in project management, and launching a help desk are particularly noteworthy.
Overall, there has been a new momentum and transparency in the various activities of the District Council. In addition to increasing the sense of responsibility and enthusiasm within the administration, this effort to transform the District Council into a people-friendly and effective institution has given rise to positive discussions at the local level. Many believe that if this continuity continues, the Gazipur District Council will soon become an example of an ideal local government institution.
