  • Rail communication between Dhaka and North Bengal has been temporarily suspended after the Nilsagar Express derailed in Adamdighi area of Bogra. At least 40 to 50 passengers were slightly injured in the accident that occurred on Wednesday afternoon, railway sources said.

Several coaches of the train derailed at around 2:06 pm in the Satian area of Adamdighi upazila. The Pakshi division control room of Bangladesh Railway confirmed this information.

The railway’s preliminary investigation report said that the nine front coaches of the Chilahati-bound train derailed as it approached the scene. Several passengers were injured, but there was no immediate information about serious casualties.

As the incident site is located on a single railway line, train services on that route have been completely suspended, disrupting rail connectivity between the capital and the northern region.

A rescue train has been sent to the scene from Ishwardi Junction to start rescue operations quickly . Railway officials said that necessary measures are being taken to make the line operational.

The authorities concerned said that an investigation has been launched to find out the cause of the accident.
