Iran’s top security official, Ali Larijani, has claimed that more than 500 US soldiers have been killed in the ongoing conflict with the United States. However, the US Department of Defense, the Pentagon, has given different information with this claim; they have confirmed the deaths of six US soldiers so far.
In a message on social media X on Wednesday, Larijani called the US military operation an “unjust war.” He accused US President Donald Trump of engaging in a conflict against Iran under the influence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Larijani wrote that hundreds of US soldiers have been killed in a matter of days, and in this situation, the US must decide whether it will prioritize its own interests or Israel’s.
Larijani, who currently serves as head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, issued a brief warning that the consequences of the conflict did not end there and that those responsible for the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei would pay the price.
The conflict began with a joint US-Israeli attack on February 28. According to various reports, Khamenei and several high-ranking military officials were killed in the attack.
Following Khamenei’s death, Iran vowed revenge and threatened to launch missile and drone attacks on US military bases in Israel and elsewhere in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, Larijani said Tehran has also rejected the proposal for indirect nuclear talks between the United States and Iran, brokered by Oman, before the war began. He said Iran is ready for a long-term conflict.
