The Washington Post has claimed that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman played an indirect role in the US military attack on Iran .
The report said that while publicly advocating a diplomatic solution, he secretly lobbied US President Donald Trump for an attack on Iran.
The newspaper, citing four unnamed US and regional officials, said the crown prince had called Trump on several private phone calls over the past month to urge him to take tough military action against Iran. It claimed that these conversations ultimately influenced Washington’s decision.
Meanwhile, Trump recently claimed that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had been killed. In a post on social media, he mentioned the role of the US and Israel in the operation. However, Tehran has officially denied the claim.
