Dhaka’s private University of Asia Pacific (UAP) has suspended all academic activities indefinitely due to the ongoing unrest on campus. The decision was announced in an emergency notice signed by the acting registrar on Monday night.
The notification said that in the current situation, it is not possible to conduct regular educational activities. Discussions are underway with the concerned parties to resolve the problem and resume normal activities as soon as possible. All classes will remain closed until further notice.
Earlier, in the face of student protests, two teachers were expelled on charges of religious insults and biased activities, but as the situation did not return to normal, the university authorities ultimately decided to close the campus indefinitely.
