Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep grief over the death of BNP Chairperson and three-time former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. In a condolence message on social media on Tuesday, he called Khaleda Zia an important political figure in the history of Bangladesh.
Modi said that Khaleda Zia’s contribution to the country’s development and strengthening India-Bangladesh relations as the first female Prime Minister of Bangladesh will be remembered. He expressed his condolences to Khaleda Zia’s family and the people of Bangladesh.
In his condolence message, Modi recalled his meeting with Khaleda Zia in Dhaka in 2015 and said that her political vision and legacy will guide the bilateral partnership in the future. He concluded his message by praying for the peace of her soul.
It is noteworthy that Begum Khaleda Zia passed away on Tuesday morning while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the capital.
