A young man named Siam was killed in a bomb explosion thrown by miscreants in the capital’s Moghbazar. The incident took place under the flyover in front of the Moghbazar Freedom Fighters’ Memorial on Wednesday (December 24) evening.
According to eyewitnesses, a bomb was thrown from above the flyover in the evening. Siam was seriously injured in the explosion on the spot and died a short time later. Panic spread in the area immediately after the explosion.
The deceased’s relatives said that Siam was working in a private factory. He was staying in the area at the time of the incident. Later, the relatives came and confirmed his identity.
Police cordoned off the scene after receiving the information. Masud Alam, Deputy Commissioner of Police of Ramna Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said, “Initially, it is believed that the bomb was thrown from the flyover. The purpose of the bomb throwing is still unclear.”
He said that CCTV footage from the area is being collected and analyzed to identify those involved in the incident. Details will be announced after the investigation is completed.
