BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is returning home on Thursday (December 25). His wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman and daughter Barrister Zaima Rahman are returning with him on the same flight, party sources have confirmed.
Sources said that tickets have been purchased for six people, including Tarique Rahman, in business class on the BG-202 flight operated by Bangladesh Biman’s Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. The list includes his personal secretary Abdur Rahman Sunny, Saleh Shibli of the party’s press wing, and Kamal Uddin of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation.
It is not confirmed whether Arafat Rahman Koko’s two daughters, Zafia and Zahia Rahman, will be on the same flight or not. Apart from this, several other leaders are travelling on the same flight by buying business class tickets at their own expense. A section of BNP leaders from different European countries will be in economy class. In total, there are expected to be more than 50 passengers on the flight.
UK BNP convener Abul Kalam Azad said Tarique Rahman is returning home with his family and personal staff; others are going on the same flight on their own initiative.
Meanwhile, preparations are underway in the capital to welcome Tarique Rahman. After inspecting the stage at the 300-foot area in Purbachal, BNP leader Mirza Abbas said that the attendance at the event may be beyond expectations and the government has been requested to cooperate on security issues.
