July Unity has announced major programs across the country to commemorate the death of Sharif Osman Hadi, the spokesperson of the Inqilab Manch and one of the organizers of July Unity.
The organization said that special prayers and a simultaneous ‘coffin procession’ will be held in all mosques in the country after Friday (December 19) Friday prayers.
Israfil Farazi, the central organizer of July Unity, announced the program in a statement on Thursday night. He said that Osman Hadi was an important face of the July Movement and a pioneer of anti-Indian hegemony politics. He called his death a “deep loss” for the movement and demanded that the culprits be brought to justice.
Although the July Unity Party has called on the general public to remain calm, it has been announced that protests will continue on the streets until Hadi’s murder is brought to justice.
It is worth noting that Osman Hadi was shot during an election campaign in Bijoynagar, Dhaka on December 12. After receiving initial treatment in the country, he was taken to Singapore. He died there on Thursday night while undergoing treatment. The incident has spread grief and anger in the political and social arena.
