A pedestrian was killed after a bearing pad from the metro rail fell on him in Dhaka’s Farmgate area. The tragic incident occurred around 12:20 pm on Sunday (October 26) beneath the Farmgate metro rail station.
According to eyewitnesses, the victim was walking along the footpath when a bearing pad suddenly fell from the running metro train and struck his head. He died on the spot.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Shahiduzzaman of Tejgaon Police Station said, “We were on duty nearby. Upon receiving the news, we rushed to the spot and found a man lying dead.”
The deceased was believed to be between 35 and 40 years old, but his identity has not yet been confirmed.
The incident caused panic among locals, while police and metro rail authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
