The low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining regions has intensified into a deep depression and is moving west-northwestward. The system may further intensify into a cyclone, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
As of 6:00 a.m. Sunday (October 26), the deep depression was located about 1,340 km south of Chattogram, 1,270 km south of Cox’s Bazar, 1,300 km south of Mongla, and 1,265 km south of Payra seaports.
The special weather bulletin stated that within 48 km of the deep depression’s center, the maximum sustained wind speed is 50 km per hour, rising to 60 km per hour in gusts or squalls. As a result, the sea around the deep depression is very rough.
Authorities have advised Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra seaports to hoist distant cautionary signal number 1.
All fishing boats and trawlers over the north Bay and deep sea have been instructed to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution, avoiding deep-sea ventures until further notice.
