Police have taken measures to prevent the accused in the Salman Shah murder case from fleeing the country. The names and details of the accused have been sent to the immigration authorities to ensure they cannot leave Bangladesh.
The matter was confirmed on Saturday (October 25) by Golam Faruk, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ramna Police Station, in response to questions from journalists. He said the case was filed following a court order, naming Salman Shah’s former wife Samira Huq and 10 others as accused, along with several unidentified persons.
According to the OC, the investigation has already begun. Police are using technology and mobile tracking to locate the accused, some of whom may be outside the country.
He further stated that there is no external pressure on the investigation, and the accused will be arrested and brought to justice soon.
Notably, 29 years after the death of film actor Salman Shah, a murder case was filed at Ramna Police Station in the capital on the night of October 21, by Salman’s uncle Alamgir Kumkum.
Among the accused are Samira Huq, businessman Aziz Mohammad Bhai, Latifa Huq Lucy, film villain Don, and several others.
On September 6, 1996, Salman Shah’s hanging body was recovered from his residence in Eskaton, Dhaka. After a long investigation, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) concluded that Salman had died by suicide. However, his mother Neela Chowdhury has consistently rejected that finding, insisting that her son was murdered.
