A violent clash erupted between students of Dhaka University (DU) and Dhaka College in the capital late Sunday night (October 12). The confrontation, which began shortly after midnight, quickly escalated into chase and counter-chase incidents, with brick throwing turning the area into a battlefield. Several people, including journalists, were reported injured.
Upon receiving news of the incident, Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) Vice President Sadiq Kayem and several other student leaders rushed to the spot in an effort to restore calm.
Meanwhile, a large number of law enforcement personnel were deployed to bring the situation under control and maintain order. Police have also intensified patrols in the area.
However, the exact cause of the clash could not yet be confirmed. Tension and unease have since gripped the surrounding area.
