Assistant Tax Commissioner Jannatul Ferdous Mitu of Dhaka Tax Zone–5 has been temporarily suspended on charges of supplying confidential tax documents in exchange for a bribe of Tk 3.8 million.
According to a circular signed by NBR Chairman Md. Abdur Rahman Khan, she received money from taxpayer Salah Uddin Ahmed and provided his appointed lawyer with sensitive files, including old returns, order sheets, tax assessment orders, and tribunal decisions.
For violating the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, departmental action has been initiated against her. Under Rule 12 of the 2018 regulations, she will remain a special officer on deputation and will receive subsistence allowance during the suspension period.
