Chief Adviser of the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, will sit in a meeting today (Tuesday) at 5 PM with leaders of seven political parties at the state guesthouse Jamuna in the capital. The information was confirmed in a press release from the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing on Monday.
Earlier, on Sunday, Dr. Yunus held discussions with BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and NCP leaders, where he made it clear that the national election will be held in the first half of February. He said, “Considering any alternative to elections would be profoundly dangerous for the nation.”
Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, Shafiqul Alam, stated that Dr. Yunus reaffirmed the same commitment to all parties. He also sought cooperation from political parties to prevent any unrest during the upcoming Durga Puja. The Chief Adviser also carefully listened to the opinions of the Jatiya Party and other political groups.
