Dhaka: In August, Bangladeshi expatriates sent $2.42 billion in remittances to the country, the Executive Director and spokesperson of Bangladesh Bank, Arif Hossain Khan, announced on Monday.
During the same period last year, remittances amounted to $2.22 billion, marking an 8.9% year-on-year increase. From July to August of the current fiscal year, a total of $4.9 billion in remittances was received, up 18.4% compared to the same period last year.
Notably, during the 2024-25 fiscal year, expatriates remitted a record $30.32 billion (or BDT 303,280 crore), the highest ever in the country’s history for a single fiscal year.
