The dengue situation in Bangladesh remains alarming. In the past 24 hours, four more people have died due to dengue, while 568 new patients have been admitted to hospitals.
The Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) shared this information in a press release on Sunday (31 August).
According to the release, among the hospitalized patients in the last 24 hours:
Barishal Division (outside city corporation): 110
Chattogram Division (outside city corporation): 93
Dhaka Division (outside city corporation): 114
Dhaka North City Corporation: 67
Dhaka South City Corporation: 82
Khulna Division (outside city corporation): 42
Mymensingh Division (outside city corporation): 16
Rajshahi Division (outside city corporation): 39
Sylhet Division (outside city corporation): 3
During the same period, 540 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals. So far this year, 29,868 patients have been discharged.
As of 31 August, a total of 31,476 people have been infected with dengue this year, of which 59.6% are men and 40.4% are women.
The total number of dengue-related deaths this year has reached 122, with all four recent deaths occurring in Dhaka South City Corporation.
For reference, from January to December 2024, 101,214 people were infected with dengue nationwide, and 575 deaths were reported.
