Leaders of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (JNP) on Sunday met with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at his residence in Jamuna, urging that the upcoming election be conducted under the framework of a People’s Assembly. During the meeting, the party also demanded rehabilitation, medical care, and security for those martyred or injured during past public uprisings.
Present at the meeting were JNP’s Senior Joint Convenor Ariful Islam Adib, Chief Organizer (Southern Region) Hasnat Abdullah, Senior Joint Secretary Tasnim Zara, and Senior Joint Chief Coordinator Abdul Hannan Masud. Law, industry, and national security advisers were also in attendance.
The party leaders emphasized that there is no difference between the National Party and the Awami League, as the organizational activities of the Awami League have been suspended by the state. They urged the government to similarly suspend the organizational activities of the National Party.
Additionally, JNP called on the Chief Adviser to ensure the competence and neutrality of the Election Commission during the forthcoming polls.
