Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited the July Memorial Museum after its official inauguration on July Uprising Day. He was accompanied by former interim government chief advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus.
The museum has preserved the student-public movement of July-August 2024, the mass uprising, the memorials of the martyrs, photographs, important documents, newspaper cuttings, audio-videos and various materials related to the movement. In addition, various events during Sheikh Hasina’s reign and the political developments of 2024 have also been presented in various galleries.
During the visit, the Prime Minister toured the museum’s various rooms, corridors, balconies and exhibitions and inquired about the preserved materials.
The museum also houses various information and photographs on disappearances, state repression, attacks on opposition political activists, and violence during the July 2024 movement. In addition, arrangements have been made to display events related to the exile of then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury, Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Azam Khan, State Minister for Culture Ali Newaz Mahmud Khayyam, Prime Minister’s Information Advisor Zahed Ur Rahman, and the Prime Minister’s daughter Zaima Rahman.
After the official inauguration on Wednesday, the museum will be open to the general public from Thursday. Visitors can visit the museum by purchasing tickets online. The entrance fee is 50 taka for adults and 25 taka for children.
