Five more children have died of measles symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours. At the same time, 124 people have been diagnosed with measles and 959 have been registered as suspected measles patients.
This information was given in a regular press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services on Wednesday (August 5). The report has been prepared based on information from 8 am on August 4 to 8 am on August 5.
The Department of Health said that all five children who died in the last 24 hours were residents of Dhaka Division. However, no deaths related to measles were confirmed during the test at this time.
A total of 758 people have died from measles symptoms since March 15 this year. Of these, 96 died from measles confirmed by testing. As a result, the total number of deaths stands at 854.
During this period, the total number of confirmed measles cases in the country has increased to 16,655. In addition, the number of suspected measles cases has increased to 132,905.
In the last 24 hours, 124 measles patients have been admitted to hospitals. A total of 115,234 people have been admitted to hospitals since March 15. Of them, 111,050 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
Division-wise, the highest number of suspected measles patients, 394, have been identified in Dhaka division in the last 24 hours. In addition, 194 in Chittagong, 119 in Sylhet, 114 in Barisal, 60 in Khulna, 37 in Mymensingh, 31 in Rajshahi and 10 in Rangpur have been identified as suspected measles patients.
