Jagannath University (JU) Chhatra Dal (JU) leaders and activists have been accused of evicting Jaksur VP and Chhatra Shibir president Reazul Islam and GS Abdul Alim Arif from the campus after clashes between Chhatra Dal and Chhatra Shibir activists.
After the clash on Tuesday (August 4th), a video circulating on social media showed some people taking Reazul Islam out of the campus and handing him over to a rickshaw. Later, GS Abdul Alim Arif was also forced to leave the campus. It is alleged that the students involved in the incident are activists.
Earlier, a round of chase and clashes took place between the Chhatra Dal and Chhatra Shibir activists at a function held in the presence of the UGC chairman at the central auditorium of the university. The university administration and law enforcement agencies intervened to bring the situation under control.
Jaksur VP Reazul Islam, GS Abdul Alim Arif, Chhatra Shakti and Samajtantrik Chhatra Front activists and JB Press Club finance secretary Kamruzzaman were injured in the clash.
Additional security has been tightened across the campus. Law enforcement personnel have been deployed at important places of the university. Although the situation is currently under control, there is concern among the students.
There was no immediate official statement from the university administration, Chhatra Dal or Chhatra Shibir. Detailed information is being collected to determine the cause and liability of the incident.
