M.A. Khan Belal has been elected as the new chairman of the board of directors of Mercantile Bank PLC. He was given this responsibility at the 490th meeting of the bank’s board of directors held on July 30.
He previously served as the Chairman of the Bank’s Executive Committee. In his new role, he will lead the bank’s policymaking and overall operations.
MA Khan Belal is the Chairman of Samrat Group of Companies. He has long-standing business experience in various sectors including trade, industry, shipping and banking. He is also serving as the elected President of Noakhali District Samity.
Apart from business, MA Khan Belal is also actively involved in education, healthcare and social welfare activities. He has established several schools, madrasas and mosques in Begumganj, Noakhali.
