Staff Correspondent »

  • The police headquarters has issued the highest alert across the country for fear of possible sabotage targeting vehicles used by the police.
Based on intelligence information, all metropolitan, range, district and units of the country have been instructed to strengthen security immediately.

An emergency message sent from the police headquarters’ operations control on Saturday said members of the extremist organisation or miscreants may attempt to target various government vehicles, including police jeeps, pickups, buses.

According to the directive, no relaxation or neglect can be done to ensure the safety of any police vehicle parked during duty or at the end of duty.

It further said that if any vehicle on duty is to temporarily stop, it must be kept in a safe place and the police personnel should be kept under constant surveillance. Police vehicles cannot be left without a driver or a responsible member.

Besides, the security of government vehicles kept at the police station, police lines, office compounds and other designated places has also been ordered to be tightened. Special precautions have been taken to regular patrols, close surveillance and detect suspicious persons or objects in these places.

The police headquarters termed the matter “extremely important” and urged all the concerned units to implement the directives strictly.
