The International Crimes Tribunal (ICC) has sentenced Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) president and former information minister Hasanul Haque Inu to 10 years in jail in a case of crimes against humanity during the July 2024 mass uprising.
A three-member judicial panel, headed by International Crimes Tribunal-2 chairman Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, delivered the verdict on Tuesday (June 30th).
The other two members of the judicial panel were Judge Md. Manjurul Basid and Judge Noor Mohammad Shahriar Kabir.
The trial of eight
Hasanul Haque Inu was the only accused in the case. A total of eight charges were filed against him. One of the allegations was the order to kill six people in Kushtia during the July 2024 mass uprising and inciting attacks on protesters.
He was produced before the International Crimes Tribunal on Tuesday morning before the verdict was announced.

The prosecution and the prosecution’s arguments in the case ended on May 14th. The court then filed a petition in the case.
The background of the case
In the continuation of the July-August mass movement, students opened fire on students in different areas of Kushtia city on August 5. At least six people were killed.
After the incident, a case was filed against Hasanul Haque Inu at the International Crimes Tribunal. At the end of the investigation, the investigation agency filed a formal charge sheet on the basis of eight allegations against him. At the end of the trial, the tribunal sentenced him to ten years of hard labour.
