The growing number of cattle in the capital

Staff Correspondent »

  • On the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, the number of buyers and sellers in Dhaka’s sacrificial cattle haats has increased.
With the start of the Eid holiday, a festive atmosphere has been created in different haats of the capital. In the morning, the cattle have been slaughtered, tenders and people’s feet. Twenty-seven animals are under the control of two cities.

Apart from one of the biggest cattle markets in the capital, haats have been accumulated in different areas including Mirpur, Kalshi, Uttara Diabari, Aftabnagar, Golapbagh and Amulia. The farmers are coming to the capital with truck-filled cows, goats and buffalo from different districts of the country. The number of animals from Kushtia, Pabna, Sirajganj and Comilla has been seen in the highest.

The demand for medium-sized cows is the highest. Middle-class and lower middle-class customers are looking for good animals. Although the animal is sold at a relatively tolerable price after a few rounds of prices, the price of large-scale cows is still high. The vendors say that even though the supply of animals is high this year, they hope to have the most sales in the last two days before Eid.

Meanwhile, the law enforcement agencies are ready to maintain the chain. Members of police, RAB and other security agencies have been deployed in the large haats. Besides, various banks have launched fake money recognition booths, money counting machines and quick account opening facilities so that animal traders and buyers can make transactions safely.
