At least 15 people were killed and six others injured when a truck loaded with road material fell into a ditch and overturned on the Dhaka-Tangail highway.
The accident occurred in the Dakshinpara area of Saratail around 4 am on Monday.
Elenga Fire Service in-charge Ataur Rahman said that while the truck was carrying passengers on a road, the driver lost control and the truck fell into a ditch on the side of the highway. Fifteen people were crushed under the truck and died on the spot.
The injured were rescued and admitted to Tangail General Hospital.
Fuad, officer-in-charge of Jamuna Setu East Police Station, said efforts are underway to identify the deceased. The fire service and police are conducting rescue operations after the accident.
