  • The Emirates Astronomical Society has indicated that Eid-ul-Fitr in 2026 is likely to fall on 20 March.

Society chairman Ibrahim Al Jarwan said the crescent for Ramadan 1447 Hijri is expected to appear on the evening of 17 February 2026, though it may be difficult to sight with the naked eye, Gulf News reported.

Based on astronomical calculations, Ramadan may begin on 19 February. With forecasts suggesting a full 30-day month, the UAE’s official holiday calendar could see Eid leave extended by an additional day.

Under the current projection, residents may receive a four-day Eid break, from 19 to 22 March, with regular work resuming on Monday, 23 March.

The UAE’s Moon-Sighting Committee will formally confirm the date, but early assessments place 20 March as the most likely start of Shawwal.
