A. Ka. Md. Ashrafuzzaman has been appointed as the new Managing Director (MD) of the government-owned pharmaceutical manufacturing company Essential Drugs Company Limited (EDCL). The appointment was confirmed in a notification issued by the Contracts and Foreign Employment Branch of the Ministry of Public Administration on May 21 (Thursday).
The notification, signed by the Ministry’s Deputy Secretary Md. Golam Rabbani on the orders of the President, stated that A. Ka. Md. Ashrafuzzaman has been appointed to this post in accordance with Section 54 (3) of the ‘Memorandum and Association of Essential Drugs Company Limited’ under the Companies Act, 1994. He will hold this position for a period of 1 (one) year from the date
of joining The notification states that this order has been issued in the public interest and will come into effect immediately. EDCL Introduction: Essential Drugs Company Limited (EDCL) is a public limited company wholly owned by the Government of Bangladesh, which manufactures and supplies quality medicines required for the government healthcare sector of the country.
