Army is slowly returning to the barracks as the situation is normal: Army Chief

  • Chief of Army Staff Waker-Uz-Zaman has said that the members of the Bangladesh Army are gradually returning to the barracks after performing their duties at the field level for a long time for the country’s needs.
    He said the army has played a responsible role in the national crisis and the nation will remember that contribution.

    He was speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony and award distribution ceremony of the Bangladesh Army’s firing competition-2026 at Comilla Cantonment.

    The army chief said the army has been on the field to maintain the stability and security of the country in the crisis of 2024. At present, the situation is very much normal, the members are gradually returning to their barracks.

    He added that the professionalism, discipline and skill shown by the army personnel even after serving at the field level for almost a year and a half is very much appreciated. The craft and ability of the participating members in the firing competitions are a reflection of the mental and strategic preparation of the army.

    The Chief of Army Staff distributed prizes among the winners and members of the runner-up team. A total of seventeen teams, including various formations, logistics areas, independent brigades and para commando brigades of the Bangladesh Army, took part in the competition.

    Seventeen Infantry Divisions were honored to be champions in the competition. The runner-up is the Para Commando Brigade.

    Senior officers of different levels of the army, formation commanders and a large number of army personnel were present on the occasion. Such competitions are organized regularly as part of the development of the internal capacity of the army and the development of professional skills, the concerned said.
