Measles infection in the country, the death of seven children in a day

  • Measles are on the rise across the country. Seven more children have died of measles and symptoms in the last twenty-four hours. At the same time, thousands of children were admitted to the hospital. Health experts see the situation as a major public health warning.

    According to the latest data from the Emergency Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the number of suspected meach patients across the country stood at 59 thousand 279 people from March 15 to May 21. Of these, eight thousand 275 people have been identified.

    According to the health department, 208 children have been diagnosed with measles in the last 24 hours. A total of seven people died due to measles and symptoms at the same time. Four of them were suspected measles and three confirmed measles.

    The situation in the country that began in mid-March. More than forty-six thousand people have been hospitalized in the last two months with measles symptoms. Forty-two thousand people have returned home after treatment.

    According to health experts, shortages in vaccination programs, malnutrition of children and the restriction of health care in some areas can be one of the main reasons for the increase in infection. The infection is expected to spread rapidly, especially in rural and densely populated areas.

    According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 83 people have died of measles so far. Forty-five people died of measles. Most of the victims are children.

    The highest number of cases was recorded in a single day on April 26th. On that day, five thousand 564 people were admitted to the hospital with measles and symptoms. The last twenty-four hours have also surpassed that record.

    According to the health department, vaccination activities are being strengthened to control the infection. Parents are also urged to ensure a full vaccination of their children. Experts say the situation could be even worse if effective preventive measures are not taken quickly.
