Senior Bangladesh Police officer Mosleh Uddin Ahmed has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). He was previously serving as the head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Bangladesh Police.
This information was given in a notification issued by the Police-1 branch of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday. The notification, issued on the order of the President, was signed by Deputy Secretary Toushif Ahmed.
The notification said that in the public interest, Mosleh Uddin Ahmed has been transferred from the post of Additional Inspector General of CID (Additional IGP) and posted as Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police. It was also mentioned that the order will come into effect immediately.
Known as an experienced officer in police administration, Mosleh Uddin Ahmed is an officer of the 15th batch of Bangladesh Police and is currently one of the senior-most members of that batch. Before assuming the role of CID, he was also serving as Additional IGP (Logistics) at the Police Headquarters.
According to law and order analysts, bringing an officer with extensive experience in the capital’s law and order situation, crime suppression, and urban security management to lead the DMP is being considered an important administrative step.
Those concerned believe that his experience, especially in dealing with cybercrime, organized crime, and urban security challenges, can play an effective role in his new role.
