The Department of Health has reported the deaths of six more children as measles infections continue to rise at an alarming rate across the country. Of these, one child died of confirmed measles and the remaining five children died with measles symptoms.
According to the latest information released by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services on Sunday afternoon, 243 new cases of measles have been confirmed in the country in the last 24 hours. At the same time, another 1,274 children have been admitted to hospitals as suspected measles patients.
Statistics from the Department of Health show that a total of 459 children have died from measles and its symptoms since the outbreak began on March 15 this year. Of these, 75 children have died from measles infection confirmed by testing, and another 384 children have lost their lives with symptoms.
At the same time, the number of children with confirmed measles cases across the country has reached 7,767. In addition, 57,846 children have been admitted to various hospitals with suspicious symptoms.
Public health experts say that effective vaccination programs, quarantine of infected people, and improvement of isolation systems in hospitals are essential to prevent the rapid spread of measles, as it is a highly contagious viral disease. Parents are advised to be extra vigilant, especially as the infection spreads rapidly among children.
According to doctors, if symptoms such as fever, red rashes on the body, cough or red eyes appear, it is necessary to seek medical advice immediately. At the same time, they also emphasized the importance of keeping the affected child isolated from other children.
