Six lakh 28 thousand 57 people have been added to the country’s voter list. As a result, the total number of voters has increased to 12 crore 83 lakhs 23 thousand 240 people.
Director general of the National Identity Registration Division of the Election Commission AHM Anwar Pasha confirmed this to Prothom Alo on Thursday.
According to the Election Commission, new voters have been listed through the latest update activities since November 19, 2022. Earlier, the total number of voters in the country was 12 crore 76 lakhs and 95 thousand 183 people. With the addition of new voters, the voter growth rate stood at about five percent.
The current voter list figures show that among the total number of voters, male voters are 6 crores 52 lakhs, 12 thousand 731 people, and women voters 6 crores 31 lakhs, 266.
Election officials said the adoption and democratic participation of the electoral system will be strengthened as new voters are included through regular updates.
