The government has sought China’s cooperation to reopen the country’s closed industries. Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir has said that foreign investment and technical assistance are very important to revive the industry.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the Bangladesh-China Green Textile Expo at Bashundhara International Convention City in the capital on Thursday.
The commerce minister said it is possible to bring positive change in the industry and economy if the country’s limited resources can be ensured. He sought more support from China in the field of renewable energy and eco-friendly technology.
Highlighting the progress of green factories in Bangladesh’s readymade garment industry, she said the entrepreneurs have already created a new trend of eco-friendly industrialization. He hoped that the greening of the garment sector would be further expanded in the future.
Speaking on the occasion, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen expressed hope that the trade and investment ties between the two countries would be further strengthened.
Over sixty textile and garment companies from Bangladesh and China participated in the three-day exhibition. It also organized various seminars and discussions along with displaying environmentally friendly and recycling technologies.
The exhibition will run until May 16th and will be open to visitors every day from 10am to 7pm.
