The bodies of four Bangladeshi expatriate brothers have been recovered by local police from inside a car in the Muladdah area of Oman’s Al Batinah region. All the deceased were residents of Rangunia Upazila in Chittagong.
Initially, it is believed that this tragic incident may have occurred due to gas leakage or poisoning due to a malfunction in the air conditioning (AC) system inside the car. However, Oman’s law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation to confirm the real cause of death.
The four deceased brothers were identified as Rasedul Islam, Shahedul Islam, Sirajul Islam and Shahidul Islam. They were reportedly residents of Bandarajar Para area of Lalanagar Union in Rangunia Upazila.
According to local and family sources, two of the brothers were preparing to return home. They had gone out together to shop for a family member’s wedding. Although they were supposed to return home the next day, that happy moment eventually turned into a tragic incident.
Local residents in Oman found four people unconscious inside a car on Wednesday morning and informed the police. Later, the police arrived at the scene, declared them dead and recovered the bodies.
According to the relatives of the deceased, Sirajul Islam and Shahidul Islam were supposed to return home to complete their wedding ceremonies. Family members said that preparations and joy were underway surrounding their return home. The sudden news of their deaths has brought deep grief to the family.
The Bangladesh Embassy also confirmed the deaths of four Bangladeshis. The embassy said it is in touch with the local administration to find out the details of the incident and will provide necessary assistance in the process of sending the bodies home.
Meanwhile, Rangunia Police Station said that they are keeping in touch with the families of the deceased and collecting detailed information about the incident. The local administration and expatriate welfare officials are also monitoring the matter seriously.
The incident has raised new concerns about the safety and working environment of Bangladeshi expatriates. Experts say that factors such as staying inside a closed car for a long time in hot weather, faulty AC systems or accumulation of toxic gases can pose life-threatening risks. Therefore, rapid forensic investigations and awareness-raising are necessary in such incidents.
