Twelve more children have died of measles and measles symptoms in the country in the last 24 hours.
At the same time, 1,238 new measles symptoms have been detected in the bodies of children across the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.
This information was given in a press release sent from the control room of the Directorate General of Health Services on Thursday (May 7).
According to the Department of Health, one child has died in Dhaka after being diagnosed with measles in the last 24 hours. In addition, one child has died in Barisal, five in Dhaka, one in Khulna, one in Mymensingh, two in Rajshahi and one in Sylhet with measles symptoms.
Earlier, on May 4, the highest number of deaths of 17 children in a single day was reported. Since March 15 this year, a total of 279 children have died due to measles symptoms. During the same period, 57 more children have died after being diagnosed with measles.
According to the Department of Health, a total of 45,498 children in the country have shown symptoms of measles since March 15. Of these, 31,912 children were admitted to hospitals. 28,238 children have recovered and returned home after treatment.
Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has reported that measles has been detected in 6,208 children across the country during the same period.
