Dhaka, Apr 15: A fire erupted in a high-rise building in the capital’s Banani area on Wednesday evening, prompting a swift response from the fire service as five units were deployed to bring the blaze under control.
According to officials, the fire originated around 6:30 pm on the upper floors of an 11-storey building located at Road 12, House 42 in Banani. Preliminary information suggests that the fire started in a clothing warehouse situated on the top floor of the structure.
Fire Service and Civil Defence duty officer Rakibul Hasan confirmed that multiple teams were immediately dispatched after receiving the alert. “Five units are currently working at the scene to contain and extinguish the fire,” he said.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire. No immediate reports of casualties or injuries have been confirmed so far, while firefighting operations continue.
