Iran and the United States have agreed to a temporary ceasefire after the 39-day conflict. The two sides will meet in Islamabad, Pakistan, on Friday to finalize the next steps and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
A senior Iranian official said the Strait of Hormuz could be opened on Thursday or Friday as soon as the ceasefire framework is finalized.
Due to the closure of this waterway for a long time, there was instability in the oil and gas markets around the world. Tehran has agreed to allow safe movement of commercial ships as part of a temporary agreement with the United States.
The official said the decision to reopen the Strait of Hormuz would be coordinated with the Iranian military.
