Kom, Iran — Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran’s new supreme leader, is currently undergoing treatment in critical condition after the recent attacks on the United States and Israel, and he is not taking part in any decision-making process in the ongoing war. According to reports, the 56-year-old Khamenei is undergoing treatment in the holy city of Kome, Iran. The city of Kom is one of the most sacred centers of Shia Islam and is known as the religious capital. This is the first time it has been reported that the position of the new Supreme Leader was unknown in public.
The document also said, “Mojtaba Khamenei is undergoing treatment in a critical condition and is now unable to take part in any decision-making of the government.” This information is based on the intelligence agencies of the United States and Israel and shared with Gulf allies.
U.S. and Israeli intelligence agencies were already aware of the health of Iran’s supreme leader, but it has not been disclosed before. According to the same report, preparations are underway to build a tomb in the city of Kom to bury the body of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The new supreme leader may also be buried in the tomb, which indicates a crisis of his physical condition.
Mojtaba Khamenei was wounded in a joint military strike on February 28; in the same incident, his mother, wife Zahra Haddad-Adel and a son were killed. Within a few weeks, he was elected the new leader. Since then, he has not been seen in public and his voice has not been heard. Although the statement was read in his name on Iranian state television, rumours about his health have been intensified without any recording.
