The government has decided to bring all children between 6 and 59 months of age across the country under the measles vaccine. Health minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain
He said that even if previously vaccinated, all children with the prescribed age limit will be brought under the program. However, children suffering from measles or fever will not be given this vaccine at present. Vitamin ‘A’ has been provided for sick children.
The health minister said that the special vaccination programme will start from Sunday in the areas where the incidence of measles is high. Later, the programme will be expanded to all regions of the country in a phased manner.
Many children born after the 2020 National Immunization Programme are still out of the vaccine. They will be vaccinated through this program. According to experts, there is no health risk even if previously vaccinated children are re-vaccinated.
