US President Donald Trump has announced an address to the nation as the ongoing conflict in the Middle East has reached a new level after more than a month.
He will deliver the speech from the White House at 9 pm (Eastern Time) on Wednesday (April 1), as scheduled, and it will be broadcast at 7 am on Thursday, Bangladesh time.
White House Press Secretary Carolyn Levett said the speech was designed to provide the public with an update on the ongoing situation surrounding Iran and the United States’ policy position. The administration sees it as an important policy-making moment.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office earlier, Trump indicated that the US military campaign in Iran could end within the next two to three weeks. He also mentioned a possible diplomatic settlement, although he did not provide any details.
The reality, however, suggests otherwise. The conflict that began in late February has already escalated into regional instability. The security situation in the Middle East is becoming increasingly complex with drone strikes, ship strikes, and counter-military operations.
