Prime Minister Tarique Rahman made a surprise visit to the Bangladesh Secretariat in the capital without any prior announcement .
He arrived at the Secretariat at 9:05 am on Sunday (March 29) and went downstairs to his office. At that time, he was welcomed by Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani and senior government officials.
After a brief conversation, the Prime Minister walked inside the Secretariat amidst tight security and began inspecting various buildings. First, she visited Building No. 6 and inspected the activities of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources and the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.
Later, he visited the Ministry of Housing and Public Works in Building No. 5 and finally the Ministry of Commerce in Building No. 3. After the visit, he returned to his office.
Sources said that the Prime Minister conducted the inspection for about an hour without any pre-determined schedule. During this time, she exchanged views with the ministers, state ministers and senior officials of the concerned ministries and inquired about the official activities.
During this surprise inspection, increased activity was observed among the officials and employees of the Secretariat.
