A senior US official has warned that Israel is facing the greatest military strain in its history in the ongoing conflict with Iran, citing widespread casualties, infrastructure destruction and a major impact on civilian life.
David Sachs, an adviser to US President Donald Trump, said in a podcast interview that Israel is currently under severe military and humanitarian pressure due to the war. According to him, the death toll in recent attacks has increased and many people have been forced to flee their homes for safety.
He added that if the conflict continues, the pressure on Israel’s air defenses could increase. There is a risk that these defenses will gradually weaken as they try to repel sustained missile and drone attacks over a long period of time.
According to Sachs, the United States and its allies have already been able to damage some of Iran’s military capabilities, so it is necessary to consider reducing tensions through diplomatic initiatives or a ceasefire before the situation becomes more complicated.
However, Israeli officials have acknowledged that the strategic goals set before the conflict began—particularly the potential to weaken or overthrow the current Iranian regime—are now much more uncertain than before.
