Ali Hossain Fakir has been appointed as the new Inspector General of Bangladesh Police (IGP) . He was previously serving as the Additional Inspector General of Police (Additional IGP) and the head of the Armed Police Battalion (APBN).
The appointment was announced in a notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday (February 24).
Ali Hossain Fakir, a 15th batch officer of the BCS (Police) cadre, hails from Bagerhat. During his career, he faced dismissal and compulsory retirement several times for political reasons. Later, during the interim government led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus, he was reinstated in the service through legal process and was promoted step by step.
